Default ZO6 rims and Bumpstops

I have 18X10.5 ZO6 rims in the back with 295/35 rubber. My problem is that jacking the car up is a b!tch because the rim gets hung up on the bumpstops. Someone told me to just remove them but what if I bottom out? My car is lowered about two inches in the back so that would increase my chances wouldn't it? Is there a better way that I can modify them to clear the bumpstops or will I be okay if I remove them? Also, the springs aren't aftermarket, they are cut. I wanted the lowered look without the harsh ride so I went that route. Anotherwards, the springs aren't so stiff that they would keep the rear from bottoming out. Thanks in advance- Mike W.

I though about it too but cutting springs is not really the way to go, but too late for that now obviously. I too have the Z06 18x10.5 with 295s in back and know exactly what you are talking about (but I'm not lowered so maybe I'll remove them). I am curious if there is another way as well.
Maybe just filing down the metal parts that stick out towards the inside of the rims?

Filing will get you no where....you need to grind..

I had to completely remove the entire bump stop setup to fit my slicks in.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

In order to take the rear tires off I've been jacking the car up by the LCA's and then resting the car on jack stands in the correct place. Is that a no-no? Some guy said I could do it there or just lift under my axle housing (in the middle where the gears are-the carrier?) but that would definitely be a bad thing to do wouldn't it? With all that weight and pressure in that concentrated spot, wouldn't it [eventually] crack? I don't think there is a solution with the factory bumpstops. We're going to have to get something custom fabricated. How do you get your tires off LS1LT1?
