Gearing Question??

Gearing Question?? I've heard a couple of different stories and I just want to clarify. Is it best to gear the car (i.e. gears,shift points) to get into third gear as soon as possible and ride third out as long as possible??? Or is it better to ride first and second as long as possible.

Re: Gearing Question?? - gear it to stay in the rpm range where you make power.
- shift 300-400rpms past peak power.
- run through the traps around 400-600rpms past peak power.
