Default moser axles

I dont have the money to buy a 12-bolt yet,but I do have a T/A cover and stud girdle on my Trans Am and I was wondering if anyone has ever broken a hardened axle from Moser? They sell a pair for the 10-bolt $225 plus shipping.

Its my understanding that the axles aren't the weak point in the 10 bolt, its the gear/posi. In my opinion, I would stick wth the stock axles, you could probably buy several used axles for what the Moser axles would cost. JMHO.

Well as far as the cost goes i have 5 spare stock ls1 axles lying around if you break em...

Stock axles are weak.. they suck. i broke the driver side axle at the drag strip on a 255 bfg drag radial leaving from 3 grand... i also broke the auburn posi at the same time...

here is my theory...

either the axles suck and can't handle the twist and force put on them by trying to move a 3500 lb car and driver quickly or...when the spider gears in the aubrurn let go they got lodged "somehwere" which caused something to lock up which then caused the axle to break..LOL <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

after i broke the stock axle i went with the mosers and have like 45 track passes on them with et streets leaving from the limiter or close to it and HOOKING .. they didn't break..

MY supposedly bullet proof eaton diff took a dump before the axles did.. so did my high torque torsen...

bottom line is if you are gonna be draggin your car and you have a 6 speed be preppared to break your rear end.. unless you go to something bigger .. either the 12 bolt or a 9"..

Thanks for the thoughts.I broke the left side stock axle last year with ET Streets,a 3600lb race weight, and a 3500rpm launch. The car isa bit lighter this year, and I have an Auburn layin around Im gonna try.I know I need a 12-bolt, but the money isnt gonna be there for a long while.Im hoping that the mosers wil keep it together until then.

Hi Anthony. I haven't installed the axles that I purchased from you as yet, but plan to when I install my 3.73's and Vig 3600 converter. Everyone tells me that the Auburn units are junk. Period. I know a guy who lost a Auburn on a 2000 rpm launch! Supposedly, the Torsens are a better 1/4 mile unit w/a T/A cover & hardened cap bolts. More M6 guys I know have broken axles rather than the Torsen units--The Auburn guys are breaking BOTH. Did you break anything Saturday?
