narrowing a 12 bolt question
narrowing a 12 bolt question I am going to do my own 12 bolt with my own brackets and mount the torque arm myself. I was wondering if you think narrowing the rear at least one inch or 2 on each side would affect control arms. I want to get prostars and I could just get a different backspace wheel if I go narrowed. anyone think I will have any issues with the control arms being to close to the brake brackets?
If narrowing is what you want to do use a third gen axle as your donor. Their two inches narrower and bolt right in fourth gens. Regardless of how you go about it you could squeeze it in a couple of inches without brake issues
I was thinking of narrowing it 2.25 inches on each side. then just buying 2 new rear wheels 10" with a 5.25" bs versus the 7.5 10's I have now .
The stock rear is 64.5 total length , I have a 9 inch housing and axles that are 60 total length . basically this will give me a deeper looking rear wheel.
Now I need to find out if I buy a moser center section complete if it has the torque arm mounts on it , also do they offer F body rear brake brackets for torino bearing housing ends .

2 1/4" off each side is going to be tight. Can't say off the top of my head is its doable so you'll have to measure from the face of the brake flange on the ten bolt to the LCA bracket and see if it will clear. The e brake is also going to get mighty tight in there is it indeed does fit. You have a lot of homework to do and your in for a lengthy build to get this done properly. Best of luck with it man!
