Transmission and Gear Fluids?

Transmission and Gear Fluids? I have a 2001 chevy truck and have about 30K miles. My mods are in my sig.
I am installing a transmission cooler, and a vette servo soon, and its time for new fluid. I have been using RP synthetic motor oil since my 3rd oil change and I am very happy with it. Can I use RP synthetic trans fluid or should I stick with a regular fluid? I have heard some negative feedback on synthetic in the 4L60E.
Same question for the gear oil. I have an Eaton posi and 4.10 ring and pinion going in and I want to use RP 75W-90 with the GM additive. Synthetic ok to use in the rear? Hear some negatives about this too.
Everything will be going in next weekend and need to purchase all my oil and fluids soon.

Re: Transmission and Gear Fluids? I'm a fan of synthetic fluids as well but I've heard that the 4L60-E automatic doesn't like synthetic ATF. The stock rear should be ok with it though, just be sure to use the GM differential additive.

Re: Transmission and Gear Fluids? I'm using AMSOIL ATF in my Camaro and the wife's Tahoe, and used it in my silverado as well. Zero issues or problems. I like having the extended safe temperture range. I've seen some prtty high temps on several cars at the track in the heat lately - as high as 264F <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Re: Transmission and Gear Fluids? Thanks for the info guys. I think I will try the synthetic tranny fluid. If anything goes wrong, just means I get to do my performance rebuild sooner. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
The Houston heat is not getting along with my tranny right now, so anything to help cool it down, the better.
