Going to a 3.73 will definately help you off the line and probably increase your 0-60 time slightly. It all depends on how your engine is set up. If it makes all of its power at lower to mid RPMs than a 3.73 will be good. It will give you a good launch but will just cause the engine to rev high towards the end of the quarter. On the other hand if you're making all your power at high RPMs, you might want to stick with a taller gear. You'll have a slower start but will be compensated by high end power. 3.73 gear ratio is just an arbitrary number that at some point became popular and everyone wanted it in their cars. There are many points in between.

1) Definitely
2) A lot

Car will perform better everywhere except gas mileage--because you'll probably be having fun driving it harder. Gear for gear, gas mileage will be worse, but you have two overdrive gears so nothing to worry about.

i cant stand 2.73 gears, i hate them more every time i go to the track....i cant wait to see what 3.73s are like in my car. a kid i know swapped gears a while back (2.73 to 4.10) and it was a night and day difference. i realize that 4.10's are a little more then ill have but still. i think its well worth it

The 3.73's will also help there. The shorter gear will get you into your powerband faster, which is always a good thing. They will hurt your top end though, but many cars cant pull a 2.73 in OD to redline anyway, and if they can it will take some time to get there.

3.42 or 3.73...really depends on what stall you have....match your stall and gear...get a yank or vigilante....3200 vig or 3500 yank...I would do both you will love it!
