Default 10 bolt A4 guys

For those on 10 bolts and auto trans, no trans brakes.

Have you broken your 10 bolt with suspension pre-loaded and on stickies? (foot on brake, spin the motor up some, car raises in the back some, foot off brake to launch.

If its still alive does your rear have a T/A cover and studed?

No. I raced my '94 Z28 for years with the stock 10-bolt, GMPP 3.73 gears, and a T/A girdle.

For the majority of that time, it was a mid-12 sec car. Not like I was running super impressive ET's or putting a lot of power to it. However, I raced very regularly and always preloaded after staging. Anywhere from just bringing the converter up "tight" to the limit that the brakes would hold.

I broke mine not preloading. It broke on an OD to 1st downshift @ 25 mph. Busted the carrier not the gears and it didn't hook either.

No. I have a Strange 3.42 gear in my series 2 carrier. Weekend car driven hard with multiple trips to the track. T/A cover installed with gear about 25k miles ago, Nittos on stock 16" wheels.

recently busted the posi in mine after 9 or 10 mid 11sec runs. stock rear w/ 2:73's a 3k stall and about 440 to the tire on the bottle. the rear lasted many low 12 runs up until the point i broke into the 11's. i'm running m/t et streets and plan on going with a tru trac with 3:42's or better.

My 3.73 10 bolt lasted for years, then I installed a real transmission and busted the pinion gear after 1500 miles.
On street tires and I have yet to hook up the transbrake.

Diff is doing fine. 3.42 on a series 2 carrier, but not a lot of track time.

Several bottles of spray, built trans, girdle and stud kit.

I always pre-load when racing.

Stock 3.42 with 3 series carrier and it's holding up fine. I launch off idle.

I run 4:10's with a 4200 Yank and I have broken gears and differential twice at the track launching the car bwteen 2800 to 3500 RPMs(if front brakes hold) while at the track. Normally I got maybe twenty runs before the rearend went out. With the 4:10's I have now, last year I broke a big piece of the differential at the track, but I cleaned out the inside and put it back together and I have made about 60 passes with no problems-go figure. I do not used a T/A cover.

stock 3.42s in a 2 series carrier with a girdle. Sprayed out of the hole ( 1.5x 60ft) and probably had 60-70 passes on it. Never made a sound. Oh yeah it also had ring gear spacer
