How can I make a lockup switch?
Spliceinto that wire with another wire, run the new wire into your passenger compartment, to a momentary switch mounted in the location you want. run the other lead of the momentary switch to a ground.
When you hit the switch it grounds the wire, and will lockup the converter.
I don't remember off the top of my head which wire it is for the '01 models.

If you add a manual switch, how would it affect the PCM when it wants to lock up the converter? Or would it?

My understanding is the pcm locks up the converter by grounding that wire. By splicing into that wire where you can manually ground it has no i'll effects.
I used this setup for quite some time on my 4l60e with zero problems. I have a t350 now, but I still have that wire rolled and tied up behind the dash in case I ever go back to a 4l60e, and want to use it.
