Drill Mod ????????
Drill Mod ???????? I have heard about this drill mod(M6). Could someone clue me in on it. GM just rebuilt my entire tranny and still has problems getting into third on hard shifts before and after the rebuild. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> They replaced all syncro's ,3 gears and all shift forks. I would like to be able to pound third <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> if I wasn't so scared of another rebuild because I think the next one is going to come out of my pocket. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Re: Drill Mod ???????? The drill mod is VERY simple! there is a restictor in the clutch line that slows down the activation of the clutch so it does not "hit" as hard. I NEVER miss 3rd now unless I'm screwing around and daydreaming. When I pound on the car....the it pops right into 3rd (and all other gears).
1) you remove the clutch line from the master cylinder (must remove master cylinder from the car) and the tranny.
2)get a .125" (1/8 th) drill bit and drill from the master cycender side.
3) once the restictor is out, blow the line out with compressed air and run A LOT of clutch fluid through to make sure it is clean (people have scraped their slave because they didn't spend enough time cleaning the line).
4) reinstall and blead the clutch (this is a SLOW and tedious process).
