well this is a problem i ran into as well! did you already install the bearing??? the right way to do it would be install the brake backing plate then the bearing. so then you side the axle in and bolt on the plate, and it will stay in. but i just cut the brake backing plate in half the bearing IS BIGGER THAN THE HOLE ON THE PLATE ,so you will not be able to side it in and out, this is why i cut them!

Umm i'm confused about the above guy. Are you saying you cut your backing plates so that you could put them on after you pressed on the bearing?

What you need to do is assemble the axles in the following order:
Say the hub is on the ground, you would put the reluctor ring on(if you have a 4 channel setup), then the brake backing plates(make sure the face the correct way), then you press the bearing on, then press the press ring on which helps keep the bearing on. What actually keep your axle in the housing is those brake backing plates, there are studs on the housing and nuts on the brake backing plates holding it against the housing and keeping the bearing in.

The backing plates say LH and RH, you may have them on the wrong axles. Also make sure you have the axles in the correct sides, and make sure the bearing is all the way inside the housing. before you try putting the nuts on to hold the backing plates to the housing.

Sounds like you have your backing plates on the wrong axles. Obviously make sure the parking brake drum faces to the outside. When installed, the two caliper bolt holes should be toward the front of the car with the parking brake shoe to the wheel side. If not, you have your backing plates on wrong. Hope this helps. If you need pics, LMK and I'll snap some since I am at that stage on mine right now.

Also, did you switch your u-joint yet? I'm having some snapring issues.

I figured it out. I was trying to install the snaprings into the original groove the plastic retainer was in. When you have removed the stock u-joint, you just press the caps in far enough so the groove on the cap comes through to the inside of the housing. The new snapring fits on the inside of the driveshaft yoke's dogears. It will make sense when you get to that point. If you get stuck, feel free to PM me.

I just wrote a book in this thread. Not a step by step install thread, more just some random things I spent time looking for and may or may not have found answers to. Anyway, hope it helps.
