Rear Diff Cover, need help. *URGENT* Ok, so i just bought a used Summit girdle cover for my stock 10 bolt... My question is... im planning on installing it tomarrow night, and i need to know how to set up the preload on the girdle.. Once i drain the rear end, and clean it up a bit, and install the cover, how should i tighten down the bearing girdle bolts, you know what im talking about.... Also, what should i use to seal it up? Go to GM and get a 10 bolt gasket, or should i just use some black RTV? we have RTV readily available at my job.. so.. let me know guys! Thanks!!

Re: Rear Diff Cover, need help. *URGENT* I jusy remembered that i had a new one of these in the basement. Here are thr directions enclosed. The use of silicone is recommended in place of a gasket to limit cover deflection. A small amount of silicone should be applied to the bearing cap load bolt threads under the jamnut to provide a positive seal. Install the cover with both bearing cap load bolts backed out enough that they will not contact bearing cap. Both swivel heads should pivot freely on bearing cap load bolts before installation. Torque mounting bolts to 25 ft/lbs. Torque bearing cap load bolts to 10 ft/lbs. maximum. Caution should be used not to over tighten, or bearing distortion will occur. Tighten jam nuts on load bolts to 10 ft/lbs. maximum. Caution should be used not to over tighten jam nuts. I hope this helps.
