Default To gear or not to gear?????????

I've been considering upping the ante in the gear dept for a little bit now. I have 3.42's in there now and been wondering if 4.10's or 3.73's will have a noticable improvement? Help me out

You'll notice either one a-4 or m-6 ? You can go 4.10 w/m-6 & still have decent streetability. But if you got some power you might want to think about getting an upgrade for that old 10 bolt.

Heads cam car? /A4? Oh yea, there is something to be gained by stepping up to 3.73's.

I would not recommend the 4.10 unless your stepping up to 28" tall tires.

I knew I should have given a brief run down on my setup.

stock cubes, JPR Stage 2 heads, Thunder 224/112, Stepped Dynatech, LS6 intake, YTP4500, 4L60e, Hals, Billingsley LCA's & APHB, ET Drags and Front runners and I'm VERY light <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

I'll go on the dyno to figure on shifts but right now they should be around 6700-6800

4.10s should buy you about a .1 over the 3.42s and allow you to cross in the high 6000 rpm range. It also gives you a little room for bigger tires.

With 3.73s and 26x11.5x16 ET Streets, I cross around 6000. 4.10s would put me around 6600 - 6800.

Locking the converter when you hit 6500 would drop you about 300 - 500 rpm, giving extra rpm room and keep you near peak HP.
