How loud is a 9" supposed to be?

How loud is a 9" supposed to be? I bought a 98 SS that had a Moser 9 inch rear end with 3.70 gears. When im going down the highway it SCREAMS... the loud obnoxious gear whine. It is suposed to sound like this? Would replacing the ring and pinon make it any more quiet? Thanks for the help.

Shane, have you tried a few launches on slicks?
My gears always get louder.
If your gears are air-raid siren loud, they need to be checked out...
I get above normal whine from 55mph to 125mph, but it's for me it's acceptable.
