Default Ratech Solid Collar...

Can anyone direct me to a web site with detailed instructions on how to use the Ratech Solid Collar and the shims that come with it? I looked on Ratech's site and came up with nothing. Maybe I just couldn't find it.

Thanks.

call thunder racing, but basically you install it with the crush sleeve and remove it ,measure it and put the solid in.It's more labor but your pinion won't walk on you after some hard launches.

Thanks. That makes sense and explains the shims. I got one from the person I bought the gears and install kit from, so I figured I'd try and use it.

The shims are there for the preload of the bearings, not to adjust pinion depth. After your achieve the proper pinion depth then install the spacer with 3 shims. Then measure the pinion pre load. New bearings I recommend 30 inch pounds and used 15 inch pounds. If its to tight add a shim, too loose remove a shim. The shims are in different sizes so you can achieve proper pre-load. Dont take short cuts!
