Default Help 9 inch install problems

Hey Everyone,

Intalling my 9 inch and got the passenger side LCA mounted, and the torque arm with a bolt going through it to hold it.

Next, I went to the other side to install the driverside LCA and the mounting holes on the rear is like 2 inches away from the LCA.

My LCA's are set at factory length. The only way I can get the both on is to pull off the TA and than install both LCA's. The problem is, the torque arm is to long than.

Does this sound typical? I have a UMI adjustable TA, should I just shorten the length of the adjustable TA and than install it?

Any advice would be great guys!

you need a pair of adj. lca for the 9in. that way you have adjustability forward and back.I would suggest also picking up a adj.phb. to adjust side to side.good luck.

Something is not right here. The Moser (if that is what you are using) 9 inch is designed to be used with either stock or aftermarket items. I would try jacking the rear up to where it would be as if the car was down on the ground, in the loaded position, and see what you have. Bob

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help. It is a moser housing with a strange center section. I will try and jack up the rear more and see what happens.

I have adjustable LCA's, PHR, and torque arm (not installed yet, but going in tomorrow). But I was on the same thought as Bob in that the stock stuff should fit!

I am worried about how much I lengthen the LCA's because it will shift the wheels back to far!

Hopefully raising the rear will help, but I got a gut feeling it won't.

Any other thoughts?

lca's should bolt up as well as ta. however if car is jacked up then that will throw of length. try to put a load on rear axle and see if all bolts up. it should. I ould bolt up lca's 1st then ta to axle then ta to trans mount unless u have relocation ta mount which I would connect that end last. then, after ta is last mount, then i would check rear axle angle and make sure all is correct.

I will try the order you are talking about.

I took the springs out and jacked the rear up and it did very little in regards to shortaning the distance.

Right now with the TA bolted up and both LCA's unbolted, the LCA's are about an inch away from the holes in the rear.

I will try bolting up the LCA's and than put on the new adjustable TA tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Thanks,
Glenn

LCA's locate the axle, bolt those up first, then the torque arm, if the TA dont fit adjust as necasarry to fit...make sure the car is at ride heght and suspension loaded...
