In need of a new 9 inch
In need of a new 9 inch I am looking to put a 9 inch in my car it is a 97 ws6 a4 mostly stock for now but it will get the le2 package later this year or early next year. I am sure this has been discused tons on here but I never have much luck getting the answers I need when searching the boards.
I am thinking about just getting the housing and axles and having the rest built here by someone that has building cars for years. Any suggestions on what to get. I am talking the posi unit itself what spline axle what kind of housing etc. Also what is the strength difference in getting a alum center vs getting one out of a scrap yard and rebuilding it. How about getting the fill and drain plugs put in.
What are some opinions on this is it better to just buy it ready to go or is there a good amount of money to be saved by doing it in pieces. I can likely get the gears etc for free or very cheap. Sorry to post about something thats done all the time but I dont know much about them and just started to think about it in the last week.
