Is a quiet setup a strong setup?
I just spent 14 hours setting up my 3.73's to get it perfect. The pattern never really came into where I wanted it, but I'm not very good at reading patterns either. The diff is very quiet, quiter than the stock 3.42's I had in before. Should I assume that since it's quiet and broken in should I assume that this baby is ready for the track?
I'm a little bit paranoid now since I just spent $700 on my 10 bolt and the setup was a major PITA! I'm going to the track Tomorrow, would rather not chunk 14 hours of my own labor and $700 on the first pass because it wasn't setup right.
DOH!! I just noticed the "broken in" part thanks to the other post....

Well quiet is a good indicator that you got things pretty close. You may find that after a few hard launches or track passes that it might start making some noise. And it may not...might stay quiet for ya. Sounds like you took your time which is essential for your first couple times swapping gears.
As long as your backlash was in spec, and your pinion preload was good, and the pattern was as close as you could get it, Ide say you are ok. Maybe make a few passes with it, then crack the cover back open, and recheck everything. Check the backlash and all that. Maybe run another pattern on it. Make sure nothing major is floating around in the fluid. Ide do this whether its making noise or not after the runs/hard driving... The time it takes to inspect things is way less than if you have to rebuild it again!
