Stock Rear End I tried the search option and didn't find any good info.
We're having a friendly discussion about the rear end of the f-body's.
The stock rear is 10 bolt right?
8.5 inch right? How many spline is it?
Do the 8 cylinder cars come with dif rears (besides gears)?
Is it the same as the S10 rear???
Here's the one I find funny, the other guy contends it is the same as found in the Mazda B series.... can this be true......... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Re: Stock Rear End It's actually a 7.5 rearend. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I bought a new carrier and it said right on it for 84-02 F-Body and 82-02 S Series.

Re: Stock Rear End yes there is a diffrence.the f-bodys use two diffrent types.the autos generaly came with 2.73 it has 2 searies carrier.the f-bodys with the m6 came with a 3.42 which uses a 3series carrier.to make sure what you have you can get the last 8 digets on your VIN# and call your local dealer.i found this out the hard way.hope this helps you out. ed f

Is it 27 spline for sure?
And do all f-body's come with the same rear end.. 6 and 8 cylinders? And this is for sure the same as the S10...

Re: Stock Rear End The F-body rear uses a 7.625" ring and pinion, but alot of people refer to it as 7.5". Later model F-bodies have 28 spline axles. Earlier models (third gen) had 26 spline axles. 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder F-bodies use the same 10 bolt rear.
