ok i bought a 99 z28 2 years ago...ok last year i was wanting to put gears in it...i bought 3.42's and install kit from SLP....after doing some reasearch i found theres a 2 or 3 series carrier. ok i have 2.73's in the car and the gears i bought from slp were 3.42's for a 3 series....(didnt even get asked on the site for what carrier) but anyways my question is this....im now looking at buying gears from richmond 3.42's for a 2 series carrier....ok the install kit i bought from SLP can i use that or do i need richmonds install kit....

and install kit is an install kit, your SLP kit will work with all gear sets

You could also have just bought a spacer for like $60, thats what I did when I rebuilt mine with a 2 series carrier & 3 series gears.

did u have to shim down or anything? did your gears whine? i heard that the spacer is really easy about breaking is that true?

Well I have run the crap out of it & not had a single problem. Even went to the track & cut 1.9 60' on street tires.
