Default Opinion: Shifters w/stops helpful or not?

Now that my warranty has been voided on my 2001 Camaro SS, I need to do whatever I can to preserve my newly rebuilt tranny.

Within the next two weeks, I will be doing the drill-out mod and adding a McLeod adjustable master cylinder. I have also sworn off powershifting for good. (Even though I never had a single problem in over 40 powershifted runs in my 1995 Z28. )

So the remaining question is, what do all of you think about shifters with adjustable stops? Worth it or not? I currently have a factory Hurst with Lou's Short Stick, and I LOVE the feel. (I like the shifter to be "notchy," and this one is. I previously had a B&M Ripper, which felt great on my 1995 Z28, but I hated the feel of it on this car. Weird.) But if the shifter stops would genuinely help to prevent "overshifting," I would be willing to spend a few bucks now on a Pro 5.0 to help prevent a costly--and no longer under warranty--tranny rebuild later.

I know that the T56 has internal stops, but someone posted that the internal stops are weak and can break off (???) and will not prevent overshifting. If that's the case, then a shifter with stops makes sense to me.

Incidentally, and I know that anecdotal evidence is not always helpful, I have three buddies with LS1's, and only ONE of them has had tranny problems. (Believe it or not, the EXACT same symptoms as mine, and GM voided his warranty too!) And what does he use? A factory Hurst with a Lou's Short Stick! Neither of the other two guys have had any tranny problems, and BOTH of them have shifters with the stops installed... (One has a Pro 5.0 and one has a B&M Ripper.)

Could just be coincidence though...

So what do you think? Are the shifters with stops worth it or not?

I just rebuilt my tranny and would say that the shifter with stops is a good idea. The tranny does have stops in it,but the shifter is an extra safe gaurd.
