Ring gear spacer question.
I placed the ring gear on the posi, and started all the bolts, brand new bolts btw.
I tightened them all up in a star pattern, cinching the ring gear up on the posi a little at a time, until I noticed they weren't moving much, so I set the posi in a press and pressed it on with some wood blocks and creativity, and the bolts were bottomed out in the ring gear. I ended up damaging the threads on the bolts, the last thread or two is boogerd up, nothing too bad, new bolts arn't too expensive.
So do I need a spacer or what???
ALSO
I put the pinion in the rear end, its got a new crush sleeve, and I tightened it up with a impact till there was no slack then slowly creeped up on 20in/lbs with a breaker bar and socket, and ended up a bit too high, and had to loosen then re tighten the nut, did I ruin the crush sleeve, or is it still usable? I'd really rather not go through that whole process again.
not looking for longevity, cars sold, just getting it together finally, hopefully this week, sold this weekend fingers crossed
