wierd teath marks on carier

wierd teath marks on carier Well im getting ready to go to the track on friday and i though i would pull the inspection cover off of the rear well i notice that ther are gear marks on the center of the carier and the only thing it seem could be making this happen is some how the pinion is being driven into it. Has anybody seen this before or should i just foreget bout it?

someone probly had the pinion nut come loose on them at 1 point in time and the pinion pushed into the carrier, i have seen this happen before when people put a rear end together and try to re-use a pinion crush washer
