Whining noise????

Whining noise???? Ok guys, I have a question. I am very ingorant in the ways of rearend problems. My car decided to start whining from the rearend area. It happened almost immediately, not gradually. I would think that my fluid is low or that my u-joints were going bad, but the fluid level is fine and the u-joints look ok (and there is not squeaking or grinding in reverse). I am kind of at a loss here so any help would be much appreciated.
Info that might be needed: z-28, six speed trans, new tires and wheels (upgraded to 17's, but kept stock height over all) and car continues with noise even at high speed in and out of gear, braking or not. Re: Whining noise???? It sounds that you may have the same problem that I have. I have been told that it is my gears. Mine happened the same way too, just one day it started to whine. Hope this helps.
