Default Break-in gears?

I just finished installing 4.10 gears in my car and was wondering what is the proper way to "break-in" the gears? Don't go beyond a certain rpm? Speed? No power-up-to-the-rev-limiter-dump-the-clutch kinda thing?!! For how many miles/time?

Thanks!!!

Usually the gears come with a piece of paper that tells you to break them in. But typically, your first drive should be easy on it, get it nice and warm, then bring it home and let it cool all the way. From there just go easy on it for 500 miles and then go with it from there.

That's just what they recommend though. My break in consisted of driving 20 miles to the drag strip and letting it rip from 4500 rpms over and over.

Thanks.

The 4.10s were in my last car, an 00 Z28 M6. And yes besides the gears it was stock in the rear end. When it finally took a ****, it was the differential that busted, the gears were still fine

What happened when your rear finally failed? I'm dreading the day but can't get myself to shell out the 2-3 grand for a proper one just yet
