Re: 273s to 342 ????? The gear change is worthwhile if you don't plan on doing a converter, but a converter will give you a much bigger gain over gears and you still get to keep your gas mileage.

Re: 273s to 342 ????? Going from 2.73 to 3.42 will net about a 25% increase in torque to the rear wheels in all gears. It will feel like you found a new 1st. gear!
I went from 3.42 to 4.10 and it's alot of fun for everyday driving. I know if I beat on it too much the rear is just going fail; so take it easy.
Find someone who has lots of experience setting up gears or else they'll whine...alot...like mine.
If you're making serious horsepower, then save your money and buy a 12 bolt for about $2300.
