Popping Out of 3rd
99SS, put in a used T-56 tranny with 1900 miles on it. Short stick on the SLP Hurst shifter. When decelerating (off the throttle)in 3rd it pops out. High or low RPMS doesnt' matter. Would this be a broken clip? Need it to make due until I can send the orignal to D&D for a rebuild.

Could be the third syncro.
Don't send it out,rebuild it yourself(not hard)I replaced third gear/sycro assembly in less than 6 hours(1st time)Parts cost me $400 with steel shift fork.

It's your 3rd gear synchro. I've gone through four of them.
Avoid 3rd gear altogether and it shouldn't get any worse until you can do the D&D rebuild. I'd avoid 4th as well, if possible, because eventually your car will start getting stuck in 4th now. (Don't know why, but on my car it always followed the 3rd gear synchro going out.) Third time for my car to have the stuck-in-4th problem, too, BTW.
(Incidentally, I'm swapping in an A4 because I'm tired of the recurring problems.)

I have no problems so far with third gear popping out but the other day when cold my car would not stay in second,it would just slip out..it seemed to work ok when it warmed up..weird..
