Anyone using a Currie 9" Rear?

Re: Anyone using a Currie 9" Rear?
thanks....
the reason i am asking is because i'm always trying to find ways to save money while building my race car and while being in college money isn't always around.
So what i planned to do was to buy a 9" with axles, studs, retainers from www.quickperformance.com and a torque arm mount from www.currieenterprises.com and then just grind off my brackets from a junk rear end and then re weld them on.
If i do it all right with the sale of my present rearend, i'll be at around $500 minus a center section
I think i'm just going to go through with this as money allows and when i come to the brake situation i'm sure i'll figure it out
jim
ps what i have found out so far is that on most 9" rears you have to modify the backing plate some, so i think they just sell you one already modified so you dont have to go through the trouble of doing your own, but i cant verify this completely

Re: Anyone using a Currie 9" Rear?
Currie sells a complete 9+ rear for our cars ready to bolt in and go with all aftermarket components (NO FORD PIECES!). I don't know that I'd trust myself to piece together a rearend, but good luck.

Everybody sells stuff......i dont trust myself welding but i do trust myself piecing one together. I worked at at trans/rearend shop for almost 2 years...isn't too hard
My buddy just got done building his own 25.1c chassis, he is going to do the welding for me
