noise from a aftermarket shifter?

noise from a aftermarket shifter? which shifter makes the most noise between the pro 5.0 and the B&m ripper? i know the pro 5.0 u have to cut the boot how does it work wit the ripper.
Re: noise from a aftermarket shifter? I would say you have to cut the boot with the Ripper also. I have the Pro 5.0. It was noisy as hell for about the first 300 miles, but now it's almost as quiet as the stock Hurst POS.

Re: noise from a aftermarket shifter? My Ripper is pretty noisy, has been since day one. When i switched from the stock ball **** to an SLP ****, the noise went down a lot... The name of the game is insulation... Notice if you take the **** off, there is NO noise... I found that putting a few thick rubber bands around the base area of the stick itself (under the leather boot), helps out a bit.. it helps supress some of the noise.

I installed the Pro 5.0 without cutting the boot at all...and I also did the Rob Mod for the Lou's Short Stick...used some locktite on the stick bolts...and I have no noise whatsoever...I recommend that you do not cut the boot...that way noise will be minimal if any....
