Default Vibration at 75+mph

I recently replaced my driveshaft with one that I purchased from another member here. I replaced my stock one cause it was wayy out of balance and vibrating like crazy above 80mph. Now with the new one I had to change the u-joint and have it re-balanced. The guy here locally that does balancing only has a machine that will spin at 80mph and he can't tell me how fast rpms it turns. but what I do know is if car is in Drive (3.23 gear) it begins to vibrate around 60mph, in OD it begins to vibrate around around 75mph and gets worse as I get faster.

Now this vibration is not anywhere close to as bad as it was with my stock shaft but I have found that if I drop the vehicle in neutral at a speed where vibration is present the vibration stops. as soon as I put it back in gear it comes back.

Is it my driveshaft causing this or my tranny?

Sounds like a tranny issue if it does not do it in Neutral.

Damnit, not what I wanted to hear but suspected. I guess that explains why on some days it seems worse then others and other days it seems non-existant

anyone else that can confirm it?

A driveshaft issue will show up at the same mph each time, as the rear tires and driveshaft spin each other the same rpm each time.

You -could- have a trans. issue at 60, and then a driveshaft balance issue starting at 70mph, with OD hiding the trans. issue, but I'd start chasing this down at the trans. Slip yoke seems to be taken care of; take a look at the tailhousing bushing.

Hmm I just had a thought, the guy I bought the driveshaft from had the driveshaft in a car that had a 12-bolt which he made it specific for. I remember when comparing it to my factory driveshaft that the slip yoke was longer than the factory one but the overall driveshaft length was the same even though the driveshaft part itself was technically shorter.

Could this be the problem?
