Parts list for tranny conversion! please help I am sick of replacing my t56 every week it seems like, has anyone done a swap from a t56 to a 4l60e? please help me, I have a 4l60e and I need to know everything else I will need. ANY help would be appreciated
Re: Parts list for tranny conversion! please help I'm in the process of swapping to a built 4L60E right now... Should have all the parts here within a week or so. Do a search on "4L60E swap" on this board, in this section, and you'll find a couple of helpful posts. Off the top of my head, here are the parts that you'll need (I have my full list at home, I'll check when I get home to make sure I didn't leave anything out):
- 4L60E transmission (cheapest way is to find a core & have a speed shop build it up for you, or you could buy a built unit outright from FLP or Yank, see right------->)
- Torque convertor (might as well get a decent high-stall convertor while you're doing it)
- A4 flexplate (MIGHT come with the tranny, but check to be sure)
- A4 shifter for a 4L60E
- A4 upper console
- A4 pedals
- A4 wiring harness (e-mail John at Speartech for this)
- Re-flash PCM to A4 program (have your dealer do it, or send the PCM to John at Speartech)
- A4 transmission crossmember
- A4 mounting point for torque arm, IF you're running an aftermarket torque arm (e.g., the mounting bracket for my G2 torque arm is different on A4 and M6 cars)
- Tranny cooler (optional, but might as well get it while you have everything apart)
I think that's it. I know exactly what you mean, BTW... My tranny has been rebuilt 4 times in 12 months, and it's in need of a 5th rebuild now. That's why I'm swapping to an A4 too. Good luck!
