Default Diff swap need help??

Ok i have a POSI out off a LT1 . i have 3.42's on a open diff in my V6. I have the bearings and shimms that came with the POSI .
Will i beable to use the shimms that are already in my car with the posi couse i am using my same gears?
Or will i need to use the ones with the posi?
Or will i need a install kit?
I rebuild my rear just a few thousand miles ago new bearings shimms and reset the the ponion.

try them both and see if one works, if you dont get a good backlash spec out of it you will have to mix and match the shims and hope you can find a combo that works, if you cant with the existing shims you will have to buy more.

What he said. I would try the ones that came with the posi first, if it doesn't work out, try the others. You might get lucky or you might have to mix and match.

Default shims

Yes go for luck... but every case will be slightly different by thousands of inches. Try to keep the backlash between .005 and .010. If you can not get it between these spec please ask me I will get you some shims. Jim
