Default Broke my 12 bolt again

Thats right the 12 bolt went south again. Broke another spider gear in the carrier. I have a Moser 12 bolt with 30 spline axles. The first carrier was the Eaton posi. That went on my second pass The 12 bolt was not new when I got it But I did get it from a friend So Iknow it was in good shape whrn I got it. So I replaced the carrier with a Alburn Pro and new gears. That was back in Feb. since then I must have made about 50 passes on the car.

The rear was always noisy since my first track visit with the new gears. But for the last few days the rear was louder then normal So yesterday I decided to pull the cover to look around and put in fresh fluid. To my surprise I find this

Well it looks like I need a new cover, carrier and I might as well change the gears again. I was better off with my stock 10 bolt

I've had my Moser 12-bolt with 33-spline axles and the Eaton posi, and have beat the living crap out of it for about 2 years now and have not had any problems. Maybe you should upgrade to 33 spline or get a spool.

FYI Eaton has some of about the best CSI of any company I've seen. You should hear the story on a Particular 10 Bolt Eaton that has traded hands a couple times up here in the NW and Eaton has been absolutely STELLAR on the cutomer servic and repairs.

I wouln't expect an Auburn to hold up to much...

The Eaton SHOULD do fine. the 30/33 Spline deal shouldn't change much, since the 33 Spline units are really just modified 30 spline carriers.

Good luck!

I would NOT recommend using an Auburn. I have a friend who has one in his Strange (33spline)... he broke his running high 12s...

Get the 33splines and an Eaton.

I feel your pain. I broke the posi in my Strange 12-bolt last Saturday. I called about getting new spider gears and they told me it has a Torq-Line posi in it and it will never hold up to drag racing. They tell me that I should of got the Eaton upgrade if I was going to drag race. I don't understand why they would put a cheep posi in a 12-Bolt. How many people buy a 12-bolt just for looks. None we buy them to drag race. So I have a 13 month old 12-bolt that needs a $600 Eaton posi(Strange wanted $650. there not getting any more money from me) and the gears whine so bad that I'm replacing them also for another $200 . Add in $130 for a install kit and I'm up to $930. And to think my 10-bolt was still working when I took it out.
