Shift kit bad for real end? Ok my rear end just went out, lots of noises, the shop said its pretty much shot, few montha prior i got the shift firmness tune, and when i got my trans rebuilt they put in a shift kit. I shifts really hard, i can leave a patch going into 2nd. u think tht could be bad for our already "crappy" rear ends, or was tht just a fluke?
Well if they installed the shift kit and did not remove the tune that would deffinetly cause your trans to fail. Both mods cause the line pressure to increase and to much line pressure is really bad.
Its probably has to do with the hard driving for all those miles before hand, burnout or otherwise, a shiftkit should not be able to break a rear. Most times even with the 1-2 shift, your rolling fast enough where it isnt at a dead stop (the point where the most damage can be done).
