Drill Mod - HELP!!!
Drill Mod - HELP!!! OK. The nuts on the u-bolt that comes through the firewall clamp a convoluted piece of metal to the firewall. This piece goes over both ends of the u-bolt, is flat against the firewall between the bolt ends, and then turns 90 degress and goes up under the dash where it holds one end of the clutch return spring, and provides bracing for a couple of switches that the clutch pedal actuates.
My problem is that the bloody star washer is between ween[/I] this piece and the firewall. I can't get to it to cut it out or bend the teeth
. I've tried pounding on it, although not too hard because the angle is difficult, but it doesn't budge.
Has anybody else faced this and what did you do? I thought the washer was going to be against the nut. Moving this metal piece out of the way looks like a nightmare.
Any ideas?
