Default Tranny slipping? How do I know?

Ran Sunday at the track, and my times were disappointing. I believe my TH350 is slipping. This is why. When I ran NA, I expected 11.6 or so, but only got 12.1-12.2 with no other issues and 1.7s on the launch.

When I sprayed a 150-shot on the last pass, it seemed as though the car was surging in 3rd gear. Like maybe the tranny was slipping and grabbing. I could hear the rpm increase and decrease. I only gained 8 mph and 8-tenths on a 150-shot?

I am gonna get a new tranny more than likely, but would like some opinions.

Stock 346 bottom, TEA Stage 2 heads, FMS 226/226 .591/.591 113, TH350 manual VB, Yank PT4000, etc.

How long has it been since you've had it in the car? How many miles?

I got about 5000 street/track miles on my TH400 so far and its holding fine...sometimes when its cold it will lag pretty good on the 1-2 shift...

If you do a lot of street driving like I do, you should consider moving up to a TH400...

I ran an 11.61@117.5 at basically full weight, with a 1.62 60...and I have a stock first gear, 3.73's in the back and a tight 3500 non-locking converter...

This time next year I should be looking into a single turbo for my car, so I guess it will really be put to the test then... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

What was your MPH?

Thanks Brian...I was one of the first to do a TH350 swap, and Yank had the only kit at the time, so that is what I've had for a couple of years now. Have never really been pleased with the tranny though.

Think I'm gonna send it to Carl Rossler (here in Ohio) to build anew one using some of the hard parts from the Yank unit.

My MPH was only 112-114 on the motor and 123 on the bottle. Not very good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Are you sure you want to go with a Turbo <img border="0" alt="[kaboom]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

Ask Reckless <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
