Tips of Breaking in new 9 in.

I just had a 9" installed in my M6 LS1 and had a quick question as to how about I might go breaking it in. Are there any proper break in procedures for a 9 in?

I thought that I read somewhere that I just need to heat cycle it a few times and then change the oil after 1000 miles.

Could I take it to the track the night after it has been installed or is this too soon?

I'm going form memory here so someone chime in if I get it wrong. I had the car on jackstands and ran it for several minutes in first gear and then several minutes in reverse. Then allow to cool. Then drive for approximately 10 miles and allow to cool again. Then good to go.

Yeah thats what I did. And after that i took it to the track. The same night BTW.

We recommend four to five 10 minute cycles of idling in gear, with the car up on jack stands. We then recommend taking it easy on the new rear for 500 miles. Bob
