Default Rear or intake?

I have an opportunity to buy a 4:10 GM 10 bolt for $500, or an LS6 intake for $305. What do you guys think would be the better investment. I know everyones thinking that I might (will) break the rear eventually, but when I do, I still have my stock 10 bolt to putt around on. Or I can spend, a little less for 12-15 hp. I just don't know what to do

I can not see anyone here telling you to get the rear. The 10 bolt breaks b/c its weak, so to replace it with another rear that will again break would be useless. Plus $500 for a 10 bolt is high. $300 for an intake is a fair deal and it will last you much longer than that rear will.

I would say get 4.10 gears because you will probally notice the speed difference more then the intake even though you will not be making any more power. That and your tranny and rear end will hold up a little better with those gears compared to something like a 3.43. All that said 500 seems a bit high though. So as a choice for a first mod I would do gears, but if you have to choose between these two then the intake.

LS6 intake for sure. IMO any money spent on a 10-bolt is a waste. Even gears. The only acception to that is if your car has a broken rear end and needs to be back on the road fast.
