4.10s or 4.30s?
First off I want to say sorry for starting one of these threads again, but this one is a little different.
I am more concerned about a street car than I am about a 1/4 car. If anything I would build more of an 1/8 car since thats all we have here in my area.
I've had 4.10s in a M6 LT1 car about 3 years ago, and I remember really liking them, but now I am trying to peice together a 9inch for my LS1 and I am really stuck on which one to get.
How much harder would the car accelerate with 4.30s vs 4.10s. Would you notice a huge difference on the street? I'm not too concerned with the friendlyness of it because 6speeds are forgiving. I seem to end up in a lot of interstate races that go to about 120 or so. Being able to rocket up there a little quicker would be nice and I just wonder if 4.30s would do the job better than 4.10s... or would it kill me because of all the shifting?

Id stay 4.10's, i would only do 4.30's I didnt plan on making a ton of power or spraying the ***** off of it.
The reason why 4.30's are really good is the tall 1st gear and it really helps the launch. I spin around 2k @ 70 mph and I dont like spinning anymore, gas milage for me is a consideration.
In the long run if I decided to up to the trans to a M12 GTO unit, that would in essence do the same thing.

Sweet! See its this kind of testimony makes me want to take the plunge. So... this might seem like a retarted question, but what kind of interstate mileage are you getting? As of right now I can get 30MPG on the interstate with my 3.42's and hotcam. You can be vague, like less than 20, or 25, or whatever. As long as it still gets around 23 or so I think I would love it.
My M6 LT1 car with CSR electric waterpump, BBK shorties, pullies, and 4.10s got 30mpg on the interstate.

I have run 4.56's with a 6 speed and the gas mileage
decrease isn't dramatic. Going from a 3.42 to a 4.30 I would guess you'd be around 23 mpg.
At 65 mph you'll be about 300-400 rpm higher at the same speed going 3.42 to 4.30.

Between the 2 there won't be a huge difference, in gas mileage or in acceleration. I have had 3.90's & 4.30's, if N/A I would have no problem running 4.30's again. I believe you will be happy with either, especially when going for 3.42's.
