Looking into converting from a M6 to an auto. I first need to establish what tranny I will be puting in. The car is a daily driver and hardly ever sees the track. However, I do plan to take it more often, maybe a couple of weekend days out of the month, so I want one that will also hold up at the track. I know for sure that I want it to be very streetable, and yes I know, that everyone has their own opinion about whats considered streetable and whats not. I plan to just leave the stock 10 bolt in there for now because its either a 12 bolt with a 4.10, my 6 speed and convert later, or an auto now and get a 12 bolt later. Im thinking that I want an auto now just because Im sick of manual trannys! So then I will be running a 3.42 gear in a stock 10 bolt. Do you think thats too much gear for an auto. on the street? I know that converting will affect my gas mileage and even more so depending on what gear and stall I run. Once I figure out what tranny I will be using, I then need to figure out what stall and gear to run. I know that I want the tranny to have an overdrive if I want it to be streetable right? Which ever auto tranny I do decide to go with, does it affect what kind of PCM I will be using? Or there are only 2 kinds, 1 for an auto and 1 for a manual? For instance: Say the car originally had a 4L60E and I wanted to put in a TH400, will I still be able to use the stock PCM or does it take one specifically for that tranny? I want a strong tranny that is going to hold up at the track with no problems, but will still be very streetable because thats where it will be driven most of the time. Is there any tranny out there that will do this or will I have to buy or build it with upgraded internals? Thanks
