Default Should i go to the track?

Well i finished doing a A4 to m6 swap and would like to see what im capable of doing. My only question is when the car is jacked up, i can turn the driveshaft about 1/8 back and forth while my e brake is on ( wheels locked). I would guess thats why when i shift i hear a knock. I just am not wanting to come back with a flatbed tow truck. I thought it was the joints but its not. Has anyone else witnessed this before? I may just pull the MTs off and but street tires on. Im running 3.23 gears by the way. Thanks

The movement back and forth is not bad though, you're just feeling the backlash in the gears. It's a gamble anytime you take one of these cars to the track, especially with an M6. Bob

Yeah i ended up taking it launched at 2k or so. didn't seem to make anything worse. Im defiantly going to be looking into a 9" this winter. Thanks for responding

The clearances for the ring and pinion gears are lower for an A4 because there is less shock put on the drivetrain in an auto. (a stock one) There is no deceleration and then sudden engagement for any of the gears, so clearances are not too precise. In an M6, the clearances must be tight or else you will hear the knocking and/or clunking that your getting when you shift. Do NOT try to launch your car hard with those gears. You WILL break it.
