heres a strange one.... I have a strange "metal to metal" grinding noise coming from what sound like the drivers side rear but it only does it when corner at speed (30+ mph) to the left. I have had the brakes looked at to see if the rotor was out of whack but it seemed fine. Could it be a bent axle? Any ideas?
Depends on the car and rear end type your have.
It could be several different things, depending on whether it's a zexel or auburn style differential.
My old zexel issues sounded like there were marbles rattling around on one side. It turned out to be broken in the center section.

You know, I have the same thing happening to me. Mine does it when I turn right at cornering speed also. I've got the stock 10 bolt with 3.23's and an Auburn diff. I'd like to know what it is also. It makes my car sound "junky", I can't stand it!
the Auburn diff's wear out and let the axle move side to side excessively. the rotor may be contacting the e-brake shoe, backing plate, caliper slider, etc. jack the car up, remove the caliper and see if the axle moves in and out more than 1/16th inch. if so, you need a new posi unit. been there done that... lol. i installed a much higher quality Eaton posi unit and ran it before the new 9" was installed.
oooh... get a refund and buy a Eaton... lol maybe take the diff cover off and look into it. take the brakes off and do all the wiggle tests. see whats moving around. good luck.
