Need some info on A3 conversion?
If I decide to pull the 4L60E I need all the required info to do this install myself.I dont wanna spend a ton of cash so any help in that area would be nice.
So far I have narrowed it down to a T-350 w/the 32 element sprag, clutches etc.I think I can mod my trans crossmember to attach the T-350 to it.I need to know what driveshaft I would need and if I can use my A4 shaft? What about a trans lines, and oil dip stick.
Shifter is gonna be a hurst qtr. stick and I need to know about hooking up the reverse lights and speedo.
Would u upgrade to a brake and 2.75 first or not?

Re: Need some info on A3 conversion?
I modded my A4 crossmember for a total cost of $0.00. Just moved the mount pad back ~2". I have pices if you want.
Don't buy the tranny adapter from Yank. Just mount it straight up.
ATI will build you a convertor with the Ls1 bolt pattern so you can use stock flexplate.
Reverse lights and neutral safety switch are mounted in stock shifter area. (You can use stock shifter if you go with forward valve body).
You have to get a new DS.
Stock trans lines hook up fine. Just take the fittings from your 4l60e and screw them into the TH350/400. You might/will have to slightly bend the lines, but no big deal there.
Oil dipstick tube that mounts in stock location, get it from Madman.
Get a brake if you do a good bit of track time.
I hear the 2.75 first gear is fairly weak, but I have no experience, so I dunno.

Re: Need some info on A3 conversion?
I'm selling a TH-400 conversion for $2200.
It's complete, comes with the TC, ratchet shifter,
and drive shaft. Only thing you would need is a TQ
arm that mounts off of the tranny.
