Need some help here folks

Alright. I'm getting ready to order some 3.73 and an Auburn posi for my 98 T/A. Guy I bought it from was told there were 3.73's put in when he had the rear replaced, well it sure as hell looks like a salvage yard rear end and it only has 2.73's in it.

How can I tell wether its a 2 or 3 series?

Are these rears a 7.5 ring gear?

Am I correct that these are 28 spline?

TIA for any info.

The 2 series gears are going to be thicker than the 3 series

I needed to know wether to order the thick gears or just a regular gear set so I can have the install done this weekend.

If it has 2.73s then it is a 2 series carrier and yes it is a 7.5 ring gear

You are correct that they are 28 spline axles...
