Default Differential

I am not well versed in rear/suspension parts. I have a few quick questions I am hoping someone can answer.
When I purchased my 2000SS New, the dealer had an extra SLP add on package which included the Auburn High Torque Performance Differential, and the Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension. What origionally came in these cars as far as rear/suspension? And secondly is the Auburn differential/ Bilstein suspension one of the better ones on the market????
Thanks for the input guys.......

I too, had all of the options on my 2000, which have since turned into a waste of money based on what I know now and have done.
This doesn't mean that your choice is bad, it just depends on your application.
The Bilsteins are actually pretty good if you're going to do some low level road course work or just pounding your favorite curves.
If you plan on more aggresive track abuse, I would suggest a good adj shock with accompanying susp. pieces.
You're rear will be fine if your car is a stick with very little bolt-ons and no sticky tires for dragstrip use.
If it's an auto, you get a little more room for power application.
If you plan on abusing the rear, use some Redline and a bottle of Equa-Torque to help out a bit.
Unfortunately with the these tiny and weak stock rearends that GM supplied us with, all bets are usually off.
What exactly are your plans for the car?
Road racing, Drags, Cruising, all of the above?

Yeah I wish I knew more about the suspension/rear prior to my purchase. The rear was like $899.00 and the suspension was like $999.00. These items were ordered by the dealer. But for the cost of them I could have purchased a more suitable set of items...
As far as my car.. It's a 2000SS with the M6. Mods so far.... SLP Cat Back, K&N Air Lid, K&N Filter, Smooth Bellows, 160' thermostat Hypertech Powertuning PPIII (another waste of money). Future MODs, MAF, Throttle body, LS6 intake, Possibly a good mid range cam, and a set of 4;10's. Driving wise, Street mostly/ with some track for fun....

Then your two liabilities will be clutch and rear.
For the mods you have planned, stick with a ZO6 clutch setup when the time comes.
As for the rear, like I said, ticking timebomb if you run any kind of sticky tires with a hard launch.
But it doesn't sound like you're going to be a regular at your track, so just have fun.
Besides, you can usually get new complete rears from the guys who have converted for a decent price.
