Default Gear change How-to...

I recently tackled a gear swap into my 1998 Z and found these sites VERY helpfull in changing the gears:

http://www.keliente.com/gears.htm
http://www.greenfries.info/rear_gear.htm
http://www.stealthram.com/gearswap.htm
http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...all/index.html

Setting up gears is not hard at all, it just takes time and patience. I have never done them before and these articles were all it took for me to finish the job.

...Now its only a matter of time before my rear end explodes

I didnt find any stretching to be needed. In fact, my foot and a half breaker bar was all that was needed to get the carrier out of the housing. Oh, I forgot to mention my two spider gear teeth I found when I pulled the cover off for the first time. Ouch. The pin gets pulled a little further from my grenade every time I step on it...

Exactly, so why would the artical tell you to make sure you find a gasket with holes in it for oil passage when no one makes a gasket with holes for oil passage. Not to mention the dif cover covers those two holes and no oil passes through those holes...

I wouldnt worry about it then, after all, I doubt the rear end is going to explode because it wasnt circulating oil the way that chevy high performance says it should. I think the LS1 factor is going to have much more to do with any problems related to our 10 bolts.

BTW, waiting to do 4.10s AFTER you've already done a cam, tune, and all the bolt-ons feels freakin awesome!
