Making your own Adjustable Master
get a master cyl, cut the hole off the end of it and then another .25" off the
casting from the bottom of the hole up.
you need for find a 3/8" ball swivel rod end, check to make sure the hole in
the swivel is .375" and find out the thread size, the ones i use are 3/8-24
then get yourself a 3/8-24 thread die and run it down over the fresh cut end of
the rod 1.5" or so. it will be very tough going at first because of the
squarish smashed part of the cast end, but it will go eventually. after its
threaded that part is done, now you have to go into the master and cut down the
internal stop.
pry the rubber boot off and pop the snap ring out of the bottom with a small
screwdriver and maybe a friend to grab it with another screwdriver then pull
the end off and you will see the aluminum pistion, grab that and pull it out
at the very end of the spring you will see a steel cone, pull it out of the
spring and cut it in half, and put everything back together. the hardest part
is getting the snap ring back in, i had to open it up and wind it into the
groove.
put a little grease on the new threads and put on a 3/8-24 jam nut and then
your rod end.
i also had to grind some off of the ball on the rod end so i could get the
stock retaining clip back on to the clutch pedal post so be prepared for that.
all in all im so far very happy with the results and happily pocketed that $90
i saved.
