3.23 or 3.73 At 60 mph I am at about 2000 rpm I was wondering if any one could tell me what gear I might have in my A4 99 Z28, the door sticker says that i have a 3.23. Off the line only cars with 3.73 gears run with me. I bought the car used and dont know what all has been done to it other than what I have done to it.

Re: 3.23 or 3.73 Look for these codes: GU2 is 2.73, and GU5 is 3.23. These are the only 2 factory gears for your A4. If in doubt, you can count the teeth on your ring gear and divide that by the number of teeth on your pinion gear. Hope this helps!

Re: 3.23 or 3.73 Sounds like 3.73s. In OD with the converter locked 2000 rpm is about 59 mph and 73 mph at 2500.
BTW, a car with 2.73s and a 3000 stall torque converter will hang with a 3.73 car using a stock torque converter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
