swapping out a spool and other ?'s

It's not a daily driver, but I do like to drive it sometimes, and my wife likes to go for rides...and a spool isn't very 'saturday night cruise friendly.'
Questions are...
how hard is it to get rid of the spool and get a tru track or something?
A detroit locker is going to do kinda the same thing as a spool, isnt it?
To get ABS/TC, im going to have to send off the axles and back plates, right?
The car isnt seeing crazy power levels, so i dont need the strongest thing out there. (if i did, i would keep the spool). Right now its only an exhaust/nitrous car. But it will be cammed and more N20 eventually.
