Default Pinion Yoke Change

I just ordered a "Nitrous Ready" driveshaft and 1350 pinion yoke from Denny's. My DTS 12 bolt has a 1310 yoke so I need to change it to the 1350 yoke. Am I going to screw up the pinion gear preload by swapping the yoke/crush collar? Setting up a rear is way beyond my skill level. I have researched the topic a bit and read that people have marked the nut in relationship to the gear and yoke to maintain the set preload. I'm guessing this won't work for me because I'll be using a new yoke that is probably a different size. I've also read about people using an in-lb torque wrench and measuring the torque needed to keep the assembly spinning by hand. Could someone comment on these methods or tell me a better way to do this? If I have to I'll take it to a shop to get it done right but I'd rather save the money they would charge me to set up the rearend (just to change the yoke).

I know of marking pinion & nut, but I hate to say it, like you said your changing the yoke so those marks will be useless. Unless the yokes measure exactly the same. Unfourtunetly I think you should just have it set up (pinion depth etc.) just for piece of mind.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling that's what I'd end up needing to do. I really don't want to screw this rearend up. It is barely broken in and I haven't even gotten it to the track yet (or the blower). I've got a brand new set of ET Streets sitting in my workshop waiting for some abuse but with my luck I'd break the stock driveshaft and kill my transmission or something.
