WTF? Bent Pinion??

WTF? Bent Pinion?? I own an 02 Camaro SS, 1LE suspension w/Auburn Differential. The thing leaked from the diff when I got it new with 7 miles. At 1000 miles I had the dealer replace the pinion seal and cover gasket, they also replaced the rear tranny seal.
At around 4k, just the pinion seal needed replacing.
Yesterday at 530 am, the third member popped loudly while I was driving at a steady speed (75mpg) then a humming sound came from the back of the car, needless to say, when I got it stopped, the diff was bleeding out. It was towed to the dealer, they tore into it and will (of course, damn it!!) cover it under warranty, they say the pinion was bent.
How can this happen? I think it was that way off the showroom floor.
BTW, the only mods I have are a lid, GMMG exhaust, predator programming and slp sfc's.
No hard launches either.

Re: WTF? Bent Pinion?? Could of been dropped before install. I never heard of a bent pinion. Twisted, broke teeth and other stuff in that area but nothing like that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
